This heart-shaped map basket is a one of a kind piece made from folded and glued strips of an old map of Philadelphia that I wove into the painted metal frame. This piece took about four hours to make in my home studio. I made this piece for the same reason I make all of my crafts: I love to work with paper, and I hate to see anything go to waste, especially if I know it has real potential to be beautiful. The map was one in a lot of maps given to me by a freecycler. The basket was a thrift store purchase. It has a shabby chic feel that reminds me of country living or a beach house.

I make upcycled coasters, beads, boxes, notebooks, bookmarks, vases, bowls, and whatever else peaks my interest. If you can modify it with paper, I'm interested. I craft mostly out of magazine and glue, but I also use salvaged, thrifted and gifted materials with a few items being purchased new (e.g. paper, tape, rivets, thread). Items are sealed, covered, or laminated to ensure durability.
When you buy upcycled goods, you get beautiful, unique products while supporting a movement to keep usable items out of the landfills and in our homes.
