Abby grew up in New Hampshire, splitting her time between her mom’s sewing room, her dad’s wood shop and of course, the great outdoors.
As time went on, Abby got caught in the grind of corporate America, but, thankfully, a few years back, she inherited all of her mother’s and grandmother’s fabric and began quilting again. With every scrap of fabric evoking a memory, it seemed like everything she sewed came with a story.
When Abby moved to New Orleans in 2012, she reignited her love of woodworking. It only seemed natural that she used reclaimed wood – which is abundant in the city, to continue the tradition of making art with a past and a story.
Inspired by New Orleans' creative entrepreneurial spirit, Abby rented a studio and opened Cut Twice Design & Fabrication - living her dream of making things full time.
A guide to the best items from the best makers and the stories behind them.
