This naturally gorgeous piece can be used as a console table, laptop desk, sofa table, writing desk, etc. It is composed of a beautiful live edge slab of walnut that came from an urban reclaimed log. It has rich chocolate and black colors and even some reds jump out when in direct sunlight (see two photos). This is a character slab of lumber that has drying checks, bug holes, chip marks, etc. The larger drying checks have been filled with a clear epoxy resin to make the top surface functional to write/snack on. It has been finished in a satin poly to protect the wood from moisture, oily hands and whatever else you throw on it. The slab has a nice natural curvature that would be ideal for pulling a chair up to. It has been placed on three 1/2" raw steel hairpin legs. The legs are currently clear coated, but can be painted a flat black or powder coated for an extra fee. Sprayed flat black is an additional $20 & powder coated in a smooth flat black is an additional $75. lease message me prior to purchase if interested in altering the legs. This is a great mix of rustic, modern, industrial and mid century design and will fit into nearly any home decor. The finished dimensions are: 37" L x 12" to 19 1/2" Deep x 29 3/4" H. The slab of walnut is 1 1/2" thick.

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
