This live edge Mahogany coffee table is composed of a single slab of Mahogany. The striped appearance (of browns and tans) was not achieved by gluing up different wood types, but instead, it's the result of precision dyeing and staining. I created this out of love and had a blast with the process! The edges of the table are tinted a Pecan color, center portion a Walnut tone and the lighter colored stripes are the raw color of the Mahogany slab. The top has been planed flat, sanded smooth and finished in a water based satin poly. The one of a kind top rests on dual 3" x 3" steel bases fabricated in a trapezoidal design (tapered). The steel legs have been finished in an Industrial look (low sheen black and gray) and have been clear coated for protection. This unique piece glows with tones of cocoa, cream/ tan and chocolate. It's earthy colors and marriage to the steel bases give a nice mix of rustic, modern, contemporary and industrial design. While made to be a coffee table, it can most certainly be used as a bench as well. This finished piece measures 53" L x 17" w x 16.75" H. The single slab Mahogany top is 2 1/8" thick. This piece is ready to ship! If you have any questions or would like additional pictures….feel free to ask!

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
