Looking for the perfect live edge dining table for your space? Have me build yours from scratch to get exactly what you want! After a few questions on desired dimensions, wood species, colors you are seeking, etc., I will send you photos of sustainably sourced slabs that will best fit the vision of your future dining table! Not only do you select the best available slabs of wood and dimensions for your space, but you also decide on the legs/base types and finishing options. If choosing metal, I can provide you with Industrial Finish, Stainless (high polished), or any combination of colors via top quality paints applied with a professional grade sprayer or even powder coated the color of your choice for an additional cost. I can also provide numerous examples of different types of metal bases/legs that I offer: Raw steel square tubing, flat pressed steel, circular steel and iron bars, hairpins, etc. Locally Sourced & Sustainable Wood Species Available: Black Walnut, Cherry, Elm, Hard Maple, Soft Maple, Ash, Hickory, Catalpa, White Oak, Red Oak and Hackberry. Wood Finishing Options: Traditional Oil & Wax Finish, Poly or a Zero VOC water-based Urethane. Matte, Satin, Semi-Gloss or High Gloss. Please contact me to discuss your custom build. Prices on custom dining tables range from $3,500-$35,000 depending upon requested wood species, size, actual wooden slabs selected, base/legs selected and complexity of the design. I am happy to work with any budget provided and usually find a way to get you what you want for at or under desired cost. Shipping: Builds of this size are too large for standard ground services. Your table will need to either be crated and freighted or delivered via white glove service. Average shipping costs have ranged from $400-$1,200 depending upon total size, weight and distance from Central Kentucky. Of course, local pick-up is always a welcomed option as well. Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
