This live edge walnut coffee table is truly unique! I started with a gorgeous and long crotch-cut slab of black walnut. The slab was cut in half (lengthwise) to flatten and jointed back together. From there, I ebonized the entire top. I then tinted the lighter sapwood on the edges a stronger black and also applied a thick black stripe offset the center of the slab. The results are a black java colored top with three very subtle stripes running the length of the top. The top was then finished in multiple coats of satin poly and buffed down to a low sheen matte finish with glass-like smoothness. The top is married four 3-bar steel hairpin legs in an industrial finish. The legs have been clear coated for protection. If you like dark wood, artistic design, industrial, rustic and modern decor, or simply want a long wooden coffee table, this is ready to ship! Measures 51"l x 11" to 31" W x 16"H. The slab top is a solid 1.75" thick. Feel free to message with any questions.

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
