Delgado Tiple

$1,800

The Colombian tiple (tiple Colombiano) is an instrument of the guitar family, similar in appearance although slightly smaller than a classical guitar. Tiples usually have 12 strings grouped in four tripled courses. Traditional tuning from lowest to highest course is C E A D. In the Ukulélé family, The tiple was redesigned in 1919 by the American guitar company C.F. Martin & Co. for the William J. Smith Co. in New York. This tiple is smaller than the Colombian version, closer in size to a baritone ukelele. It has ten steel strings in four courses, tuned similarly to a D-tuned ukulele: A4 A3 • D4 D3 D4 • F#4 F#3 F#4 • B3 B3. Similar instruments were developed by other companies around the same time. This Delgado Tiple is being sold as a Demo model. Normally $1,800.00, they are being offered for $999.00. Solid Sitka spruce top with Mahogany sides/Back/Neck and Indian rosewood fret board and bridge. Nickle fret, bone nut and saddle, wood rosette and Grover tuners.
