The headboard is made from retired skateboard decks and the frame is made out of 2x4, 2x6 and 4x4 pine that was recovered as scrap from a home construction site. The finish on the frame is an ebony stain that has been distressed with a chain and blow torch. The finish was then sanded to highlight the growth rings and match the used and abused look of the skateboards. It is held together with 3-1/2" lag bolts. The platform supported by three 2x4s secured using joist hangers also recycled from the built site. (contact about a platform for memory foam or air mattresses.)
Sturgeon Industries Custom Woodworks
I have over 20 years of woodworking experience ranging from basic boxes and scroll saw work to framing houses and custom tables. I began making small boxes and have since moved on to large live edge dining tables, coffee tables and end tables. Nothing beats the feeling in my hand than a well made wooden product.
My business:
I quit my job to do wood working full time. wood working is my passion and my life. I have the equipment to build just about anything that doesn't require a 3D scanner and a 3D router. Because of my location I have access to numerous mills and hardwoods vendors. I always have maple, black walnut, and padauk on hand. However if there is an exotic wood you're looking for it's never far away.
Next month I will be hiring a black smith to make custom accents for the pieces as well expand product lines.
My work ethic is is quality over quantity. Every piece of wood has personality and I want the wood to speak for itself.
Adam was absolutely wonderful to work with. He took the ideas I had and gave suggestions that made them even better. The finished product is beautiful and professional. I highly recommend Adam. I will be back! Thanks again!
