Side Table

$1,500

Inspired by a 1940's side table that I found on the tree lawn in Cleveland Ohio. I made this handsome two drawer side table out of walnut and quartersawn oak. It would easily go in a foyer. The top is made from small strips glued to together to create a pattern that line up in the center. This piece is lightly ebonized and still shows the grain and tone of the walnut. The drawer boxes are made with quartersawn oak I used a simple oval brass knob that has been slightly darkened. This piece is ready to be packed and shipped. 38 1/4" wide, 16" deep and 32" high, the shirt is 5 3/4" I could also custom make one for you to your specifications

My name is Richard Steiner. I’ve been working in the Decorative arts since 1990 where I got my start as a studio assistant for artists Marc Beauregard and Raymond Karpuska. In the mid 90’s I worked in Atlanta as directing manager of a small craft based studio R.L.Goings Studio where I co-produced murals and bespoke hand painted chinoiserie furniture. 2003 I started focusing on carpentry related projects with an interest in interior built-ins and furniture restoration. And now in Portland Oregon I am producing custom furniture, limited additions of furniture and lighting along with residential and commercial carpentry contracting. I have a passion for the built environment and its trappings and the knowledge and background to produce unique and lasting pieces.
I Started Sweetheart Carpentry and Design llc in 2010, I am a registered licensed and bonded contractor my ccb number is 189840. I share a wonderful work studio with another talented furniture designer/builder and a metal smith in South East Portland. Recent projects have included a custom credenza a bleached oak farm style dining table and a commercial build out for Poler Stuff a Portland outdoor gear and Apparel Company.
Along with my rich work life I am happily married a proud parent to three wonderful kids 12, 5 and 2. I find inspiration in the natural environment and recharge with running trails in the rain and recently started training in Aikido to stay connected to my center. I also enjoy The World of Interiors, author Glenn Adamson’s books on the history of Craft and avidly follow Matt Olson’s Rolu blog.
