Growing up I spent a lot of time in my Grandfather's woodshop. Grandpa was always making something new, be it bird houses, benches, tables (a favorite I had was one with a chess board embedded in the middle), beds (including a bunk bed he made me), chairs of all kinds, stools, bookcases (a few of my favorites were the boat shaped ones), toys, a buffet and hutch that was passed on to me, playhouses, doll houses (mine was passed on to my daughter), even Santa Claus Christmas decorations, and so much more. Not only did he make these, he painted, or stained them, and gave them to his children or grandchildren. He helped with many school projects, along with teaching proper techniques, and ways to put things together.
As the years went on, I helped with family projects such as remodeling, building, painting, and more. I took woodshop and structures classes in school. I took an avid interest in Automotive, and spent ten years in the parts and sales field. I still enjoyed making things on the side, and eventually remodeled my own house.
Originally from Michigan, my two children and I just moved here to Texas in August of 2014. I decided that I wanted to try something new, outside of the Automotive Field, and start my own business in woodworking. I love creating new items out of old wood, even logs and stumps, things that can be enjoyed and useful in every day life.
It started with logs, I made myself a new coffee table out of a double maple stump, and had the glass specially cut and ordered. Then I made my son an awesome huge toy box that he adores. He can climb into in and sit and play in it if he wants. From that idea sprung a dog bed. I found an old wrought iron table and chair set that was missing the glass. I refinished it and put a wood top on it, it's still a little work in progress for me for the side. Then from there came some ideas for wall art, one that doubles as a coat rack. These two pieces are mounted to the wall discretely through the piece, simply screwed to the studs. Then I had an idea for a wall entertainment center, and made that from one fence panel, and it has three shelves. It goes perfectly next to a fireplace with the TV mounted above it. My newest project I am currently working on is a Kitchen Island, or outdoor bar. It's completely out of reclaimed wood.
I thoroughly enjoy making rustic pieces of furniture, and art; and I also enjoy refurbishing old into something new and enjoyable again. Please go through and take a look at my past creations. I hope you enjoy them.
