Artist Statement:
In 2009 I took an interest in whittling small stylized birds and wizard caricatures. Soon after, my woodworking shifted to relief carving. In 2013 I carved my first half hull sailboat which captured my love of sailing and woodworking. Since then I have sought to continuously improve my half hull models. Through my models, I want to capture the grace (Venusta) by which a fleet of ships (Armada) move through the water. Every model is unique by its shape and grain patterns in a similar manner to all of creation. Wood constantly reminds me of the complexity and creativity of God’s creation.
