This floating shelf is made from solid native ash cut and milled here in western Massachusetts. The wood is treated with natural soap to protect the wood while preserving the naturally light color of the ash. The bracket is made from welded steel that has been blackened and oiled. This design allows a firm connection with the wall studs to provide an extremely strong hold. Holes are provided to match the typical 16" spacing of studs. This shelving can also be mounted into masonry with alternate hardware which is also available. BlackBarnDesigns specializes in designing and fabricating custom pieces to meet your exact needs. Most of the work features natural stains and finishes including beeswax, tung oil, and even a scorching technique. Polyurethane, lacquer, and synthetic dyes are used when necessary.
