Table Or Bench In Cherry Tree Slab With Bookend Top And Flames And Live Edges
In Stock One Of A Kind Piece! This mr2 Signature solid cherry Tree Slab Table with Live Edges is a hand crafted and finished piece. The piece is very unique in that the top was made with two bookend matched pieces. The two pieces were butt joined with biscuits and compression gluing to achieve the transparent and uniform joint. The bookends highlight the rare flames and unique burl, variegations and grain patterns in the piece. All of the surfaces have 3-4 coats of hand rubbed Tung oil to achieve the rustic look and protect the surfaces. The table is 44" Wide x 23" High x 19" Deep. The strength and rigidity of the piece was achieved by using 3" power head screws cover with solid cherry wood dowels. No nails or glue were (except the top) used. The cherry tree trunk was taken to a saw mill and cut into uniform and parallel slabs to insure a uniform thickness.. All of the surfaces were planed, fine sanded and the bark removed in order to keep the natural curves of the edges. The wood was stored for over 6 years to stabilize the cracks and wood surfaces. Any changes or improvements to the the piece are reviewed and approved prior to implementing each change.

I had a custom job request and even after approval of his drawing, he re-worked one small item to add stability to the book shelf (of which I never would have noticed nor thought-of, plus I already signed off on it - how often does that happen in life?!). He clearly cares about his work and shows judgment of a true professional. He sent me 4 samples of the stains to ensure I liked the color of the piece; he sent pictures throughout the process, at each step and I know I will love the piece after I open it. I haven't had a chance to open/inspect the final product due to work on my house but I would definitely work with him again (and will update my review after my house isn't torn apart).

For Custom Mr2 Solid Cherry Shadowbox Bookcase4.8My wife and I searched hard for a "Shadowbox Bookcase" for our living room. All we found were particle board monstrosities, or overpriced manufactured hollow versions. We wanted something in solid hardwood, preferably cherry. Rick provided this. His quote was reasonable, his design was exactly what we requested, and his communication was outstanding. He started and completed the project on schedule. Delivery was timely. There was a small glitch in the delivery, and Rick apologized profusely for this, but it was totally out of his control, and I believe him when he says that it had never happened before with this shipper. We managed to take delivery of the item, which was exceedingly well wrapped and protected. We are proud to have a custom piece of Rick Ricks craftsmanship in our living room.
