Walnut Shaker Inspired Entry Hall Bench
Inspired by the shaker style, this bench is made from locally grown Walnut wood. It features through wedged tenon construction. The dimensions of the bench are 36" X 12" X 18". After sanding to 220 grit, several hand rubbed coats of Danish oil are applied followed by an application of furniture quality paste wax giving the wood a nice satin finish. I’m inspired by the simple and true lines of the Shaker style but do not limit myself to one type of design. I find that I build what interests me, whether it is a blanket chest made from rare sapele wood; a Shaker side table of walnut; or memory boxes built from interesting finds in my lumber stack. These days I am able to build what I like -- I hope you like it as well.
