This media and entertainment console stands out for the complex character of its beautiful finish--crafted from fishtail oak, an Asiatic hardwood named for its iridescent qualities. This stunning wood blends shades of chocolate, honey, rose, cinnamon, burgundy and copper, in a breathtaking pattern not unlike the scales of a fish. But at TinyShed, as much as I like the distinct look of reclaimed fishtail, I'm happy to use whatever material you like for your media or entertainment center to ensure it matches your unique style. Upon exploring Portland's industrial pockets and commercial shipping areas, I came across a unique material called fishtail oak, a dense and heavy hardwood sustainably grown in parts of Australia and Asia, weathered from years of being at sea. The lengths are mottled gray and twisted from the rugged history it attained from ships it once benefited, but once dried out and properly milled, the magic of this wood can be truly appreciated. It has exquisite graining with color blends of chocolate, honey, rose, cinnamon, with tinges of burgundy and iridescent copper flecks.

I've worked as a carpenter for many years and have used all types of material, but after I finished my first table with fishtail oak, the beauty and durability of this wood was undeniable.

My curiosity and desire to work with this rare material produces furniture that I hope will be a timeless piece for your place of business, home, or loved one.
