Woodwarmth Sconce & Wall Lamp

$350+

Dimensions: Lamp: 14.5" (L) x 11"(W) x 16" (Depth with base) Base: 20 1/8" (L) x 2.5" (W) x .75" (D) The bigger picture, the philosophy so to speak, behind my work, is to rekindle what I consider to be the most organic, wholesome furniture I've ever known: the Stickley, Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie decor. This sconce, or wood wall lamp, is made in that vein. The materials are of Australian Poplar and are intended to accentuate the center piece of a wall by offering a beautiful flanking warm light. All too often I see designers create a flavorful item to mount upon the main wall of a domicile and yet the item doesn't have any spark because the proper lighting is missing. Here, instead, the lighting is not only present and will highlight the textures of your favorite pieces, but the light itself is a work of art. Frank Lloyd Wright, whom I consider to be the master of space manipulation, never made a piece of furniture that didn't tie into an overall guiding theme. I feel that this sconce can bring a sense of beatific unity to that part of a house or apartment that everyone notices first: the walls.

We are a relatively small group of individual designers. Our aim is to make functional, practical products, without sacrificing on the aesthetic. We find the designs of many modern items tired, uninspired, and more alike than singular. This is where we were able to carve out a niche. Our products are imaginative and visibly original.

At the moment there are two of us, father and son. Our relationship is extremely important, because our time with one another is limited. My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2013. Our response to the illness was to unite and spend as much of our working days together as we are able.

We both come from designer backgrounds and together discovered we had a knack for carpentry. Our process is to a great extent traditional. We use handsaws, hand-planes and we sand off with our nature-provided hands. When it is necessary to use semi-auto tools, our shop is outfitted with table saws, bandsaws and all the modern luxuries of a modern carpentry shop. Still, we find we prefer time-honored methods, to the mass-production so prevalent in today's marketplace. We are nothing if not meticulous and our products reflect this process.
