We are a small Mom and Pop business specializing in simple farm house rustic style furniture. Everything is built by hand in our barn shop, and we re-purpose as much as possible. Most of our rustic wood is re-claimed barn wood or potato box wood. We also use some Amish milled wood.

For 6x20 Barn Wood Custom Sign | Genuine Old Wood | Custom Designed | Personalized |The sign I ordered is perfect! It’s just what I wanted and envisioned. I am so glad I found this site. There was a shipping delay through no fault of the shipper; It was sent priority mail but took 16 days to get here. It is a very busy time of year for shipping.

For Rustic &Distressed Pantry Cabinet In Reclaimed Wood StyleGreat cabinet! Took me a pretty good chunk of time To put together but I got there. Previously the hardest thing to put together I ever did was an ikea book shelf. The Old Rusty Goat loves during this project so it was delayed a little bit I didn’t mind and they made sure to ship it for when I was home. I am having a small Issue with a couple of the drawers in the bottom half where they fit so tightly it can be hard to pull them out if you don’t pull exactly even on either side. I’m assuming this is a fault of my putting it together just ever so slightly off, I found through putting this together if you are off even a tad it just doesn’t go together lol I’ll figure it out eventually. I will say I had never ordered something like this before so didn’t really know how to communicate and while my questions were always answered I had to instigate most contact and had to inquire on how things were going.
Jensen Abler
For Jensen's BookcaseI am extremely satisfied! This project turned out exactly how I hoped it would. Thank you so much!

For Custom Bathroom VanitiesCan’t help but feel extremely ripped off- do yourself a favor and go with anyone but Dana. For a $2,000 vanity, was expecting something with far more quality. To start, the final product came 3 weeks later than the due date, and I had to initiate all communication regarding the status- he didn’t tell me he was going to be late on the project until the day before it was due! Next, the example pictures he sent were made of walnut, but the final product I received was engineered plywood- looks SO CHEAP! The drawers don’t align and the cabinets hit each other and don’t close. He cited that every floor is different but LEVEL IS LEVEL! I want to return it but he won’t pay for any of the shipping and I’m already so delayed on the project that I’m forced to hire a local carpenter to fix the alignment issues and refinish the product. Paid $2,000 but believe I received a product that is closer to $200 in value. Absolutely horrible experience.
Jamison Burks
For Jamison's HutchDana from the Old Rusty Goat did an outstanding job on a server/hutch that my wife and I wanted. The entire experience was perfect. Great communication and delivered on time. Definitely will go with this company for any project.
Thomas Mokwa
For Thomas' HutchCommunication was good. There was a slight delay at the beginning of the project but other than that it moved along well. We had very specific requirements regarding the dimensions and Dana did it exactly to spec. The hutch had to be assembled on site and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The process was well thought out. Shipping was fast and everything was well packed, arrived in perfect condition. The overall process was pleasant and we would hire Dana again.
Ann Rackowski
For Custom Wine RackThe communication and timeliness for this project was very good, however the quality of the finished project was below average. I had to spend a significant amount of time sanding and painting the wine rack to make it look presentable enough to put in my kitchen (and I’m still not happy with how it looks). I thought for the price I paid, I would at least get a decent grade wood, but it was cheap and very easily damaged. Overall the wine rack I received was WAY over priced for the quality I received.
Michael Bierce
For Michael's BookcaseThe bookcase that I had built for my wife's birthday turned out great! A very easy rebuild per the instructions that were included and it slid right into the slot that I had measured with no issues. Very happy with the look and build.
Richard Valentine
For Richard's wall cabinetGreat Job - Exactly what we wanted!
Derek Daniels
For Derek's Home DecorThe attention to detail, communication, timeliness and quality of work is a step above the rest! I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Now I’m gonna want all of my furniture to be custom made.

For david's Wooden SignDana has made what I thought impossible, become a dream come true. Her work is phenomenal and exceeds all expectations. She is truly a articulate artist. The detail of her work is above first class. It was easy and enjoyable to work with her as she kept in constant communication with me, making sure the item would be exactly what I expected. I highly recommend her for any project you may have. If I need another project done, I am absolutely going to have Dana do my projects. She rates off the scale and way over a ten! Mark Mastro
For Mark's ArmoireI had an incredibly specific build request for an armoire and Dana’s skillset was up to the task. The piece just arrived and is absolutely beautiful. Dana was great to work with, listened to what I wanted, and worked to make sure the design was what I envsioned before getting started. You won’t be disappointed.
Karen Pritchard
For Karen's Cabinets for work shopDana built cabinets for my home workshop. The quality of workmanship is excellent and the cabinets are exactly as we specified. Dana communicated clearly throughout the process and did everything he said he would every step of the way. When the shipper lost a piece of the shipment in transit Dana promptly made a new piece - just awesome customer service from Dana (not so much from his shipper!). Thank you Dana - great experience!
Bryan Miller
For Bryan's Computer ArmoireWe submitted our plans for bids and received a competative bid from Dana Deans which we accepted. Communicaion with Dana was very good through out the project. We emailed questions and answers back and forth concerning the design until we had it right. The project was only slightly behind schedule but even then Dana emailed us in advance and told us of the delay which was because they moved their shop. The finished project was shipped and now sits in our home. During shipment there was minor damage to a magnetic latch. They promptly shipped us a new magnetic latch. The piece looks great and is exactly what we were looking for and we are very happy with the the armoire and Dana's work. Very well done. I highly recommend them.
Thomas
For Thomas' Two (2) Advent "boxes"I requested two Advent "boxes" to be made for my twin Girls. Dana was nice enough to take on the project based on a photo that I had seen on the Grandin Road website. I gave her the creative liberty to do what she wished with very few parameters. My only real wish was that my daughters' names would be incorporated into each project. The "boxes" turned out absolutely wonderfully. My wife and I were thrilled by the results. It was a very detailed and intricate project and my daughters are only months old so, there was no timeframe parameter set, aside from having them ready for Advent 2018. This would give her time to make each of 48 boxes (24 for each) and wrap them in decorative fabrics or papers. My wife and I have our own boxes that we started when we were dating but, nothing compares to the pure uniqueness of each of these. Our girls will cherish these for years to come. If this is something that you may be considering, trust The Old Rusty Goat and you won't be disappointed!!
Max Baker
For Max's VanityDana was spectacular to work with, from step one to the finished project. The communication was clear and precise all the way through the project, and the resulting work was exactly what we wanted. I would recommend Dana to anyone looking for custom work of this nature, and if we ever need another piece The Old Rusty Goat will be our first port of call!
Whitney Christianson
For House framed bedMy sister ended up finding Dana after I had been searching high and low for a woodworker to make a complicated Montessori house bed for my daughter. Not the simple house beds that are able to be purchased in stores, but an intricate piece with many different parts. I had talked with several carpenters prior to Dana who refused to take on the project because of the challenge and tediousness it required. I had almost given up until my sister told me that someone with a shop named 'The Old Rusty Goat' was worth pursuing; I agreed, and I couldn't be happier that I did. I am such an obnoxious customer in that I'm very picky and equally indecisive, but Dana never made me feel like burdon. I couldn't decide between railings or no railings, chimney or no chimney, where I wanted the door, ect. I'd really hate having me as a customer. But, he took my input and indecisiveness and actually created a bed that I could alter according to my daughter's stage of development and/or my changing mind. I never would have thought of that as being an option. He ended up customizing a piece that I really wanted AND at the same time gave me the option of later creating a completely different bed or reading nook or whatever that she or I might eventually want. Want the door on one side this week, but on the other side the next? No problem! Not sure about a chimney? No problem. He made one for me anyway, and I can attach it or not. It's fantastic! He asked questions that I'd never thought of and ended up quoting me a price that was more than fair. Dana kept me up to date throughout the entire process and he responded so quickly (usually within the same hour!) to any questions that I had, which were excessive and probably very annoying for him. He sent me pictures of the final project to make sure it was okay. It wasn't "okay", it was incredible. My first thought was how could I possibly fit my own bed into my daughter's room because I'm absolutely taking this one. But, luckily for my baby, the dimensions worked out in her favor and she gets a beautiful, sturdy, one-of-a-kind piece of art that she can sleep and play pretend in and pass down to future generations. If she decides not to have children and there are no future generations, that's okay too because her mama will take this bed to the nursing home. I was nervous when the bed came because I knew it had to be broken down for shipment and I am the type of person that will hire someone to put together a one tier bookshelf from Target, BUT Dana had most of it put together already and had everything labeled easily. All the holes were pre-drilled and I actually put this beautiful, gigantic, complicated bed together rather quickly BY MYSELF - which is unbelievable if you know the type of person I am. Initially I wasn't sure I would be able to given my history, so I emailed him in panic and he gave me his number and was going to talk me through this, step by step, over the Christmas holiday, despite the fact that he has a family and children that I'm sure he would much rather be with (but he would never say that). You can't find that kind of customer service anywhere else and, fortunately for us both, he didn't need to. I thought there may be a problem with a wood bed and splinters, but Dana and his wife painstakingly went over every inch of wood, sanding and staining, which resulted in an incredibly smooth finish. Try as I might, I cannot find a single spot that could possibly result in a splinter. Also, the bed was packaged so well that everything was completely intact despite traveling hundreds of miles. I do have a couple of problems. For one, this bed he made makes all my other furniture look boring and cheap in comparison, despite the fact that it all cost significantly more. I am so mad that I didn't find him before I had everything else made, but he is certainly my go-to guy now. Also, I'm not able to post pictures on this review, so there's no way to show how incredible he and his wife's work are. I have given negative reviews when warranted and I think it's important for consumers to know the type of person they're hiring and investing money in. Dana, his wife, and their family are truly beautiful, genuine people. If you're looking for someone to do amazing work and someone who will quote you an honest price, then this mom and pop shop is where you need to be. He's a woodworking genius and he and his wife will create an incredible work of art for you and your home.
