Segmented Wooden Soccer Bowl
A soccer bowl is created by cutting a segmented wooden soccer ball in half and then the inside and outside of the bowl/ball is sanded and a food safe finish is applied. A unique centerpiece, gift or trophy that is commanding and subtle all at once. Handcrafted from exotic woods, each ball contains 32 individual pieces of wood that are high-precision cut from ¾ thick wood. After gluing and sanding, the ball is finished with multiple coats of polyurethane. My father and myself began making these back in the mid 1970's. Similar items have been made by the famous Malcolm Tibbets. John got back to me with a few questions and presented some options. He included pics of other signs to let me see the lettering styles that were available.
