Live Edge Bedside Table

This was actually the third piece to complete a bedroom set. Both top and the legs are live edge with the intent of the legs being a tree form suspending the single drawer. The top is part of the same slab used for the dresser as this was a rather large piece of cherry. It consequently matches the dresser completely. The front and sides are made of spalted ash. This happened out of a stroke of luck as spalted Ash is rather uncommon, and there were only a few boards that where suitable. It became quite the chore to make certain that using only two boards we could complete both tables. As you can see, we use ball bearing slides for the drawer. The overall dimensions for this piece are 22 ½" W X 13" D X 26 H but of course we can be quite flexible. If you're looking to match the dresser, please let us know so we can source the wood accordingly. Also note the way we attach the bottoms to the drawers. A notch is cut around the edges and the bottom itself is Baltic birch plywood attached with screws. This is a very stable arrangement and if there's any difficulties the bottom can be quickly and easily replaced.

For nearly 30 years we have been making fine custom furniture. All of our creations are one-of-a-kind pieces using individually hand selected, local hardwoods.

At Lehigh Valley wood works we believe in creating classic furniture with a unique blend of both new and old techniques. The focus is on a blend of both form and function. For example, we use ball bearing slides rather than a web frame for drawers. The reason is it simply works better and will be more functional and durable.

We also use a combination of both hand tools and machinery. Again the best available tool for the job.

Since we focus on one-of-a-kind pieces each order will be discussed in detail to assure that all of our clients receive the very best products.

The pieces shown in our pictures are examples of some of the work we have done over the years. Keep in mind that a particular live edge piece is unique. Clients can choose from the type of wood squared edges or live edges etc. just let us know what your preferences are and we will accommodate them accordingly.
