This was made as a special request from a customer. It was a gift to someone that loved both chess and cigars. It features two humidors; one on each side of the chess board. The lower drawers hold the humidors and the upper drawers hold the chess pieces. For this piece, the chess board is made from cherry, walnut and ash and the humidors are made from Ipe, similar to spanish cedar and also in the mahogony wod family.

    This was my first custom project. I interviewed by email 6 different wood furniture makers. It was immediately apparent to me that Doug was my choice. His communication and follow-up (we used text & email) was first-rate. He sent me progress photos all along the way. I gave 4 stars on value as that is subjective. I LOVE my new zebrawood and walnut entry console table. I would use Doug again, and would recommend people interview him and talk about their project.

    The project came in on time, and exceeded expectations. I’m sitting at the bar next to my wife as I review the stool underneath me. Fantastic. Deborah’s chair is two inches taller than mine and she sits comfortably at the bar and I can look into her beautiful eyes. Something an off the shelf bar stool would not allow. I’m a big boy and Doug went out of his way to reinforce the joints, the support for the leather and they are strong, beautiful and comfortable. We will be commissioning more projects in the future.

    Did I mention the packing? Bullet proof. Got here well labeled and safe. First class all the way. I would recommend Doug without reservation.
