this particular piece is 1/8 mild metal with 1/2 welded bars. It is designed to take long logs and heat them to embers to use for outdoor cooking.Also for controlled bonfires It can also have a solid sheet added to the top as a griddle or a mesh/grill instead. It is solid steel, thus it is a heavy piece. It can also be done in 26" or 28" with lighter bars, wire mesh or extruded and expanded diamond mesh

Starting as a winter hobby in Brooklyn, between full-time jobs as a Photographer and Saltwater Fly-Fishing Guide, I wanted to be more creative and incorporate food and cooking into my day-to-day. Having spent some time fishing and cooking with the famed Argentine Chef Francis Malmann, The Grills, Fire Baskets, and Ovens really drew me into welding and fabricating my own outdoor cookware. I love to design and craft these things, then I like to set them on fire and cook a bunch of different things on them. To cook with wood is to truly taste and feel the nature and science that created us in the first place. Gas Grilling is dead, All hail wood-fired cooking!!
