Here is a versatile Shaker style hall table from Thompson Heritage Woodworking. The pictured table was built using a combination of curly and spalted maple before being finished with a durable semi-gloss lacquer that highlights the grain and provides a durable and attractive surface. The top was built from one piece of highly figured maple that has been in our lumber stash for the last seven or eight years waiting for just the right project -- rest assured that we still have a few more that would make another gorgeous table! The log that yielded this gorgeous top was actually saved from a fire before being milled into some incredibly wide and figured boards. It would have been a shame for lumber this beautiful to have gone up in smoke and it's truly fortunate that the person who had the log milled made the decision to save it before he could have possibly known what was inside the log. The tapered legs and table apron are made from spalted maple, which provides some interesting grain and adds some additional flair to the top. This piece is 39 1/2" wide, 15" deep and 30" tall. We are a small custom furniture maker based in rural Michigan. Pieces are built here in our home shop using vintage American made machinery that has been acquired and refurbished over the years. Our pieces cross various styles and finishes, but we're definitely partial to the elegant simplicity of Shaker designs.
