This carving features the word "peace" in the beautiful, endangered Tibetan script. This particular piece has been sold; subsequent carvings will use similar pieces of distressed walnut. Roughly 18" x 12". Proceeds benefit the non-profit Endangered Alphabets Project, dedicated to preserving minority cultures worldwide.
The Endangered Alphabets Project
Since 2009 I have been carving pieces of text in endangered alphabets as a way to preserve them and draw attention to their plight.
My work has been featured all over North American, including the Smithsonian Institution.
In order to support this non-profit work (and because I love carving) I do a steady stream of custom carvings, sometimes in these beautiful, exotic scripts, sometimes in English, sometimes as stand-alone artwork, sometimes as carved inscriptions in items of furniture to make the piece unique and more meaningful to the client.
