Figured Mahogany Executive Desk With Inlays

$1

This is a Craftsman Style desk that was part of a very large commission over two years involving my designing and building 47 pieces of furniture. The request for the project was to design the furniture in the Greene and Green style but redefined in a more contemporary way. This is figured mahogany and solid mahogany with black pear inlays. It is a computer desk with a leather writing top that slides in to reveal the computer. All wiring is hidden and is routed through a channel in one leg that is hard wired and hidden.

I am a furniture designer and maker, specializing in unique custom furniture and accessories. Since 1982 I have designed and created furniture commissions here in Oregon and throughout the US. I am a graduate of Fine Arts, with a focus in painting, drawing and sculpture at San Francisco State University in 1974. Essentially self taught I began my career in San Francisco exploring unusual and sculptural furniture. I moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1977.

My passion for the fine arts has always been a significant and contributing inspiration with my furniture designs, in fact for many years my personal work involved story telling with both functional and nonfunctional furniture designs. I have taught at the college level in both furniture and fine art, and have taught many workshops as well. Maybe because of my unusual approach, my willingness to take chances in design, and at times my quirkiness, I have been fortunate enough to be published and featured often in the media, have shown in galleries and museums, and have received numerous awards for my work.

My love and search for a better design isn't confined simply to tables but finds me using chairs, tables, chests, consoles, lighting, candles, menorahs, entry tables, beds and bedroom accessories, coffee or cocktail tables, side tables of all kinds, home accessories of any description to tell my story. My inspirations come from both architectural and environmental interests. Through the years I have explored contemporary and unique versions of many styles such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, PostModern, Moderne, Modern, Craftsman, Greene and Greene, Shaker, and many more. I love working with my customers as a collaboration, exploring their desires with my unique approach. Let's see what we can come up with next!
