Anita Lockman-Jordan is the owner of Benu Glass Creations at Center Town Gallery – Suite B. The studio-gallery is located in historic Stone Mountain Village, Stone Mountain, Georgia, an Eastern Atlanta suburb. Ms. Jordan produces fused and cast glass objects that are decorative, wearable and/or functional unique art – “Everything from Glass Earrings to Glass Bathroom Sinks”. After a series of pottery classes, Anita’s artistic gene was stirred when she discovered her niche during an experiment with fused glass. She was immediately attracted to the vibrant colors and the fluidity of glass. Anita went on to further her knowledge and vigorously attended classes in glass cutting, kiln-forming, glass and Precious Metal Clay jewelry design, kiln-casting, mold-making, glass-blowing and flame-working. After over a decade of experience in the glass-making industry, Anita is now the owner of Benu Glass Creations, located in historic Stone Mountain Village in Stone Mountain, Georgia. When asked about her creations, “I produce fused and cast glass art that is decorative, wearable and functional. I also produce works from PMC (precious metal clay)—primarily jewelry—but at times, I embellish glass vases and sculptures with PMC,” she explained. Anita is also an award winning artist and has exhibited her work in several galleries, including Kudzu Art Zone, Norcross, GA; Tannery Row Artist Colony, Buford, GA; Walter Greer Gallery, Hilton Head Island, S.C., Snellville City Hall, Snellville, GA; Cobble Creek Galleries, Snellville, GA; Artists Aetlier Galleries, Atlanta, GA; and has sold her work at various local and national art shows. Anita continues to elaborate on her passion: “Each work of art is custom-designed and hand-crafted—from precious metal clay and/or Dichroic glass jewelry to glass sinks. As I take on new projects, fresh ideas flow and new items are produced in the process. That is what’s so exciting as a glass artist and designer, being able to merge the two together and do what I love.”
