Large Douglas Desk
This is a spectacular and substantial desk for a larger space. The desk is made entirely from very thick 3.5in reclaimed Douglas Fir. The Douglas top has been smoothly finished and retains some beautiful nail hole oxidation (black). The drawer has a solid reclaimed Redwood facing and is framed with both reclaimed Douglas Fir and new growth Poplar. The drawer pulls are polished boat cleats. My favorite piece.

I build contemporary furniture and home furnishings from primarily reclaimed locally sourced woods.
Originally educated and licensed as an architect, I left the profession for a career in technology. But over the years I continued to design and build works. With no room left in the house for new pieces, friends encouraged me to hang a single.
I build modern pieces that unmistakably hand made and highly crafted. If Design Within Reach had a baby that made furniture out of their garage, that would be me.
I prefer reclaimed woods. Thick and tight-grained, salvaged woods can be beautiful in their own right, not simply due to their age or weathering. Successful pieces retain the rescued material's personality yet remain expressly modern.
But I am not religious about material sources. Almost every space needs a painted piece or two.
In addition to the pieces available in the collection, I welcome (prefer) requests for custom pieces.
