The woods used to create this piece are: Pommele Sapele, Sapele, Laurel Ash Burl, Wenge, and Cherry. The Pommele Sapele was used to create the box. The Figured Sapele complements the sides, in the middle. Next is the Laurel Ash Burl which was put on the front of the drawer and can also be found on the tops of the lids. Wenge is the dark wood used for accents (knobs, edges and the drawer pull). Finally, the cherry is the wood on the inside of the drawer. The dimensions of this piece is: 11"WX6.5"DX5.5"H. The lower drawer can fit small to medium pieces while the top compartments would fit smaller bracelets or earrings. This is a jewelry box I made for my wife and was inspired from the pieces of Laurel Ash Burl.

Canal Side Custom Woodworks specializes in unique, artistic wood creations. We enjoy the thrill of creating one-of-kind designs that have never been done before; there is something uniquely satisfying about the personal touch imbued in a piece of custom wood art that mass-produced pieces can simply never duplicate.
We have many of our own designs for various types of furniture and cabinetry, though we are also excited to work on whatever new ideas clients have. As artists, we insist on the highest quality in our creations because we will settle for nothing less.
About the owner and head craftsman, Michael McClure: I have my Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design and have been working either on the side, or professionally for the last eighteen years. I also pursue my artistic interests outside of woodworking: I enjoy photography and drawing as other mediums through which to explore imaginative creation.
