End Grain Cutting Board;

$250

You may wonder why there are two different cutting boards together in the same album. If that was your thought, you may be surprised to learn that this is in fact the same cutting board! There are two sides so one side can be used for meats, poultry or fish and the other can be used for vegetables, fruits and the like. The distinction of each side is to help prevent cross contamination between foods. The details (such as the bevel and different inlaid woods) is to assist in differentiating the two sides. Another feature of this cutting board is that it is an end grain cutting board (an end grain is "the grain of wood seen when it is cut across the growth rings")*. The advantage of the end grain is when the knife goes in between the grains of the cutting board, the wood will "repair" itself thus showing less wear and tear over time.

Canal Side Custom Woodworks specializes in unique, artistic wood creations. We enjoy the thrill of creating one-of-kind designs that have never been done before; there is something uniquely satisfying about the personal touch imbued in a piece of custom wood art that mass-produced pieces can simply never duplicate.

We have many of our own designs for various types of furniture and cabinetry, though we are also excited to work on whatever new ideas clients have. As artists, we insist on the highest quality in our creations because we will settle for nothing less.

About the owner and head craftsman, Michael McClure: I have my Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design and have been working either on the side, or professionally for the last eighteen years. I also pursue my artistic interests outside of woodworking: I enjoy photography and drawing as other mediums through which to explore imaginative creation.
