Ash Slab Kitchen Table

$2,500

This unique table was made for a customer in California. The top is from a single ash slab (1 1/2" thick), right out of the woods of Pennsylvania, with hand-cut, brass bowties. The slat shelves are mortised into the 4" square legs - also from a solid piece of ash - and each slat is held in place by two wooden pegs. This is a heavy and very study table. This particular table does not have any finish applied to it, per the customer's request, but we use high quality vanishes and oils that will bring out the natural grain in the wood. Ash wood also accepts stains, paint and dyes very well. The dimensions are 60" long, 26" wide, and 36" tall (standard counter height). These tables can be made to custom dimensions, however single slab tops generally max out around 30" - and those are hard to find - wider tops will take two slabs. We offer shipping to the lower 48 states and build custom wooden boxes to ship our furniture. Costs vary depending on your location and the table size.

Paul and Zack Huberty own Miikana Woodworking in Downingtown, PA. This father and son team designs and builds furniture focusing on clean lines, traditional techniques and beautiful hardwoods. Each piece of furniture is carefully handcrafted at their shop in Valentine Edge’s Mill.

Paul started the business in 2015 after spending 27 years in the healthcare industry. A graduate of Penn State University and Drexel University, he has had a love for woodworking since high school. His furniture designs are influenced by Mid Century Modern and Scandinavian furniture makers.

In late 2017, Zack Huberty joined Miikana Woodworking and quickly learned the important aspects of furniture design and handcrafted furniture. Zack graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship and owned his own digital media business focused on the motorcycle industry. In addition to furniture design and construction, Zack is responsible for the social media and digital platforms for Miikana, expanding community partnerships, and exploring collaborations with other artisans. Zack also runs Miikana Cutting Boards, a division of Miikana Woodworking that ensures that we responsibly use all of our precious hardwoods. He creates beautiful cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and home goods.

Miikana Woodworking is located in historic Chester County, Pennsylvania. We are proud to join the many Chester County furniture makers that have produced some of the finest pieces since the Revolutionary War. It is this beauty and history that keep us focused on our proud traditions and that inspire us to build the best handcrafted furniture.

Miikana Woodworking is located in Valentine Edge's Mill, built in 1784, which ran as a water-powered grist mill for 134 years. We are honored to share in the history of the mill and it frequently inspires us in our creation of furniture that will last just as long.
