“Dance” Decorative Centerpiece / Vase

“Dance” Decorative Centerpiece / Vase

$400

Champleve vessel with patinated metal reserve. The Champleve technique requires precision hand inlay of opaque vitreous enamel glass slurries into cells that are acid etched in heavy gauge metal substrate. The vivid, luminous pools of glass are achieved over many days of sequential, exactly timed kiln firings at approximately 1500 deg F. The "Dance" decorative design engages lively shapes that convey both the real life grounding and the energy / fluidity of a person's dance through life. It is an original design developed by enamelist Barry Wechsler. The vessel is heavy gauge copper and serves well as a decorative centerpiece or functional vase. The surrounding metal reserve has a rich, medium brown patina, accenting the subtle beige of the glass inlay. Cotton gloves are provided, to enable worry-free handling of the vessel without fingerprints. Each work is hand crafted, modeled after that shown and bearing unique, subtle differences. Each work bears the original hallmark of ultraWAVE Art Metal Studio.

ultraWAVE Art Metal Studio is a specialty metalsmithing workshop producing decorative vessels and panels that are realized in vitreous enamel (glass fired onto a metal substrate). The mission of the studio is to enhance the aesthetic and spiritual experiences of persons appreciative of both beauty and strength. All work is locally hand crafted in Yorktown, NY.

Vitreous enameled art metal is sequentially fired at 1500 deg F and requires many days of precise design and execution. Vitreous enamel imparts a beautiful marriage of color, glass, light and metal.

Champleve, a specialized vitreous enamel technique, balances the lustrous capacity of the metal reserve with the luminous wells of glass fired into cells excavated or etched from the metal. Dating back to ancient and medieval applications of the technique for heraldic and clerical uses and rejuvenated many times over the centuries in more aesthetically refined decorative styles, champleve is intimately explored by ultraWAVE Art Metal Studio in a newly energized context of decorative formality and conceptual engagement.

As well as offering you our classic designed vessels, we encourage you to reach out to us with any needs or ideas for a custom work or installation.
