Handcrafted Wood Signs and Wall Decor

I have always loved working with wood. As a kid I remember tinkering in my Dad's basement work shop, busy as a bee, hammering, sanding and creating atrocities. Now is no different…. just kidding. I love the natural beauty of wood, my craft I hope you can see is to work with the wood to a point where it looks amazing, even the imperfections look rustic. I became a big fan of giving, being the last of 7 kids. Recently, I found that one of my core values is making gifts for people. I have a servants heart and the reason I can go hours wonderfully lost in creating signs is that it enables my true passion to shine. In the end, it is an honor that someone would grace their wall or deck the halls with my art signs. It unleashes a joy inside of me that is tremendous..

I began tinkering again a few years ago, out of a personal search for a hobby and the desire to return to my roots, this is all normal stuff for a man in his 40's. I really got hooked again quickly and now I am in full production mode. I like to keep a journal of thoughts and a memo of sayings at church or jot down bumper sticker sayings that scream at me for attention. Lucky for me I can always see the bumper stickers real well due to the way I drive…. not good. You are safe from this since I will not be hand delivering my signs but rather mailing them USPS. I see it like this, I can break it down to a single goal to create is to live and I live for the opportunity to inspire creativity in others.

Each sign is handmade. I take pride in not using any machinery or electric tools on the wood once I get it from the lumberyard. First I handpick the wood and then prepare all the pieces for a sanding session to cure the wood nicely to accept the stain like a champ and smooth out the rough edges. Then it is hammer press time to use a combination of little industrial glue and nails once I match up the pieces to one another. It is tremendously time consuming but each moment is so exciting to move the sign through the staining and polyurethane stage to Lettering. The last two stages are to use the heavy duty industrial strength vinyl lettering on the sign. Each step in this part is when I turn my attention to being patiently mindful and careful to hand weed the lettering for either the hand painted or lettering on the sign. I think of this careful time as a gift in life to slow everything down to punch the lettering and select the measuring of the quotation or sayings on the wood. Last stage is drying and staging the wood to acclimate to its new look.

My studio is filled with the smell of pine and the tools of the trade. I appreciate hearing the stories behind the need for a sign. I love the opportunity to share something of significance with my buyers. It is a honor and privilege to serve you and it especially wonderful to be a part of the Wedding collection in signs and accessories. My marriage is the most important thing in my life. The Established Name signs are so special to make because I believe there is nothing greater in life than the chance to spend your life with someone you love. It allows a person a reality that has no limits but is boundless in its capacity for joy. Well that' enough about me, now let me build something for you!

Thank you for visiting and wherever your life takes you, I hope you stay inspired!
