These geometric wall hangings are made from all hardwood pieces, accentuating the natural colors and grains of the various wood species. Every piece is custom and unique - I will work with each customer to individually design the hanging according to their needs and sensibilities. Boreal Woodworks is run by Nathan Kolb, based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company was established in 2013 with the purpose of producing long-lasting furniture, crafts and home goods using the highest quality lumber sourced from the Appalachian region including Walnut, Cherry, and Maple, as well as reclaimed and repurposed old growth woods such as Heart Pine and Red Cedar. Eschewing the preconceived need for unblemished lumber, our methodology instead focuses on highlighting the natural character of the wood used, with all of its 'flaws' and eccentricities.
Trained by master craftsman Bill Carney at the Chattanooga Woodworking Academy, Nathan was taught in the traditional methods of bench joinery and furniture making. He now creates bespoke furniture pieces, as well as casework, built-ins, and smaller home goods.
