Constructed without a single piece of metal, this piece is a testament to the strength of bench joinery. Pegged through-mortises and sliding dovetails allow this table to come together in an organic fashion, and the straight lines and light form add a touch of airiness to the piece. ~~ Feel free to use this table as a jumping off point for the coffee table you desire. Boreal Woodworks is run by Nathan Kolb, based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company was established in 2013 with the purpose of producing long-lasting furniture, crafts and home goods using the highest quality lumber sourced from the Appalachian region including Walnut, Cherry, and Maple, as well as reclaimed and repurposed old growth woods such as Heart Pine and Red Cedar. Eschewing the preconceived need for unblemished lumber, our methodology instead focuses on highlighting the natural character of the wood used, with all of its 'flaws' and eccentricities.
Trained by master craftsman Bill Carney at the Chattanooga Woodworking Academy, Nathan was taught in the traditional methods of bench joinery and furniture making. He now creates bespoke furniture pieces, as well as casework, built-ins, and smaller home goods.
