Hand-Inlaid Constellation Wall Art
Inspired by nights staring spent staring at the stars in the foothills of the Appalachia, these beautiful wall-hangings are constructed from all hardwood and inlaid by hand. Seen in the example is a piece of live-edge Walnut with Maple inlays - a dark night background and bright white stars. However, these can be customized to include a multitude of species including, but not limited to, Cherry, Mahogany, Padauk, Hickory, Oak, and Heart Pine. For a small upcharge, brass inlays can be used to connect the stars as seen in the second photo. Nathan Kolb
Boreal Woodworks
Boreal Woodworks is run by Nathan Kolb, based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company was established in 2013 with the purpose of producing long-lasting furniture, crafts and home goods using the highest quality lumber sourced from the Appalachian region including Walnut, Cherry, and Maple, as well as reclaimed and repurposed old growth woods such as Heart Pine and Red Cedar. Eschewing the preconceived need for unblemished lumber, our methodology instead focuses on highlighting the natural character of the wood used, with all of its 'flaws' and eccentricities.
Trained by master craftsman Bill Carney at the Chattanooga Woodworking Academy, Nathan was taught in the traditional methods of bench joinery and furniture making. He now creates bespoke furniture pieces, as well as casework, built-ins, and smaller home goods.

He made me a very unique table that had a digital screen embedded in its center and communicated with me throughout the entire project, making sure that every detail was right and that any little thing that came up during the build was brought to my attention. He did extra research I never even thought of to make sure the screen wouldn't be damaged in transit. I can't describe how well he created my piece.
