Rustic White Cedar Coffee Table
Made from saw milled white cedar from the swamps of the Lumbee River and by the hands of a Native American from the largest tribe East of the Mississippi River. Growing up in a poor community we learned how to use our hands and I gained my knowledge through watching the elders in my community build furniture for their own families. Now I am building it for my own and those around me.

My specialty is furniture refinishing but I also enjoy making custom furniture. Over the years I have been told repeatedly that I missed my calling when it came to the art of wood. I just enjoy any type of carpentry and making others dreams come true.
Dealing with the public all my life first as a salesman during college and have realized over the years that most people are not patient. Quality work is not possible without patience and making sure every detail is covered for pieces to last a lifetime. My pieces are meant to be passed down from generation to generation. This process can not be rushed.
No one is perfect and I don't expect to be, but I strive for perfection in my furniture making process. With a Masters in Special Education and a Masters in Business, I have learned that patience over powers ignorance.

For Rustic Square Dining Table3.8Derrick is an amazing person who took on the project of a custom dining table for our new home. He took the time to explain what value would be best for us. He helped us decide on just making the tabletop and helped us find a supplier for the base. We wanted the material to be cherry which had a few challenges since it was a less common wood but the result was beautiful. We love the color and how unique our table is, including how the base fits with the table which was Derrick’s suggestion. All in all if you’re looking for a person to work with you throughout the entire process, Derrick is the person for the job. We had tons of communication back and forth throughout the whole process. We love our table and it’s as unique as it can get!

For Reclaimed Wood Custom Chevron Table With Industrial Metal Legs1.0Would have given zero stars if it was an option. I hired Harris Carpentry to build a new conference table for my office in January of 2023. I was given a timeline of 3 months for completion. I finally received my table on June 6th after getting very gruff with him. The table had been packaged improperly and was completely destroyed in shipping, so I had to refuse delivery. I had already paid in full, and the insurance company reimbursed him for the damage to the table. Fast forward to November and I still have no table, have heard every excuse you can possibly fathom, and had to get pretty nasty to get my money back. I did finally receive a full refund at the end of November. Now, a year later, I will be finding somebody else to build me a new table.
