This one-of-a-kind lamp's design developed over the course of several years. I started this lamp by cutting scallops into some copper tubes. I made some rolled bronze screens and inserted them into the copper light tubes for diffusion. At that time I set the tubes aside, in a labeled box, and moved on to some more urgent projects. Over time I added parts and pieces to the box that I thought might work in the final lamp. A few months ago I found the right wood for a base and figured out how to wire everything together with a dimmer. I gathered up the light tubes and recessed them, at different depths, into a 2-1/4" thick block of elm. the tubes are removable, to replace the bulbs, and can be rotated to achieve your preferred look. I created a series of hammered, twisted, "swizzles" that were then placed amongst the lights. The base features three tapered sides a flat back edge. A rectangular void was routed out of the bottom of the the base. An aluminum box was created to house the wiring and the dimmer. There is a complicated tube that connects the dimmer knob on the back to the dimmer in the box. A large brass cap was fabricated to cover the box and finish the bottom of the lamp. All the brass and copper parts are were treated with a hand-rubbed, bronze patina. the lamp uses six 20W equivalent LED bulbs (included). There is a 6' gold fabric-covered cord. There is a full range dimmer knob on the backside of the base.

My work started as a part of the crafts movement in the 70's. Street fairs, galleries, and word-of-mouth provided me with a steady stream of commissioned work. While most of my work revolved around lighting, I often did other fun, creative, problem solving projects for clients.

In the 90's I became a commercial photographer and enjoyed that lifestyle for almost 30 years. Near the end of the photography work I started getting back into my crafts roots. I did both photography and crafts for about eight years and then returned full time to the craftsman life. I am still doing mostly lights but do branch out now and then if the project seems fun or challenging. At this point I have projects scattered all over the Puget Sound area as well as around the country. I have several clients with multiple pieces including one client for which I have created ten custom lights.

My work is very eclectic. It's basically a refined industrial style using a wide range of materials and fabrication techniques, This makes almost every piece a unique, one-of-a-kind, work of art.
