Honestly, this was one of my very first floor lamps. A client wanted me to create a floor lamp that was really different. That was a wide open invitation to go way outside the box. I had been experimenting with some copper screen and had just discovered this bronze screen door screen at local hardware store. The game was on. After a lot of trial and error, I landed on this idea. The bloom is constructed from five, square, hemmed, bronze screen pieces. I came up with a way to stack the five different sized screen pieces and then pull them into some copper tubing. It's a complicated process but it yields a beautiful bloom of bursting bronze screen. No two are ever the same. The pole is made of two different diameter sections of copper tubing. Some decorative rings were soldered to the poles at the transition point. The pole is oxidized to a light brown patina. The rings are polished and lacquered. The base is fabricated from two squares of mottled, brown, Paperstone (an environment friendly, counter top material). The paperstone is sanded, oiled, waxed, and polished. There is a full range dimmer inside the pole with the knob on the back of the lamp. Dimensions: 68" Tall x 10" square (at the base) with an 18" dia. bloom.

My work started as a part of the crafts movement in the 70's. Street fairs, galleries, and word-of-mouth provided me with a steady stream of commissioned work. While most of my work revolved around lighting, I often did other fun, creative, problem solving projects for clients.
In the 90's I became a commercial photographer and enjoyed that lifestyle for almost 30 years. Near the end of the photography work I started getting back into my crafts roots. I did both photography and crafts for about eight years and then returned full time to the craftsman life. I am still doing mostly lights but do branch out now and then if the project seems fun or challenging. At this point I have projects scattered all over the Puget Sound area as well as around the country. I have several clients with multiple pieces including one client for which I have created ten custom lights.
My work is very eclectic. It's basically a refined industrial style using a wide range of materials and fabrication techniques, This makes almost every piece a unique, one-of-a-kind, work of art.
