Custom Built Reclaimed Wood Farmhouse Table, Rustic Farmhouse Table
Introducing the stunning 1838 Series, a collection of rustic reclaimed food farmhouse-style furniture pieces handcrafted by Silk City Woodworks. Our current custom built masterpiece is a one-of-a-kind table made from ultra high-quality old-growth reclaimed wood, salvaged from a very old building that was scheduled to be demolished. Over the summer, we painstakingly preserved the wood's strength and the building's structure by pulling out beams one by one, resulting in a unique creation that's as much a work of art as it is a functional piece of furniture. This reclaimed wood farmhouse table is crafted from a mix of hickory, chestnut, and spalted maple, with an "A" style base set at a 10-degree angle. The top measures 64.5" in length, 32.75" in width, and has a thickness of 1.75". Standing at a height of 31.5", this table weighs a solid 127.3 pounds. The wood has been finished with a neutral tung oil to showcase its natural color and sealed with four coats of satin spar-urethane for durability. Please note that the top is not completely smooth, as we've preserved many original characteristics of the wood to maintain its historical value and provide a textured finish. This table is a true testament to the beauty of repurposing old materials and giving them new life. From a young age I have always been covered in sawdust and truly enjoy the total process from sourcing, preparing, production, finishing, & bringing to market. Lehigh Valley is known for the steel that built NYC, however, a bit lesser known were the silk mills producing fine refined fabric. Silk starts its origin from Mulberry trees and is refined into the highest quality fabric available. At Silk City Woodworks we aim to follow the same process. From origin to finished product with limited intervention between. Eastern PA has the ideal climate for hardwood tree growth yielding some of the best timber in the world. Modern and traditional techniques are combined with a little bit of edge to create pieces meant to be one of the focal points in the room. Local Old Growth Hardwood Reclamation is a major focus of ours. While back breaking work is involved, the finished product speaks for itself. Custom work is encouraged.
