This design was fashioned after some lead glass doors from cabinets in my home. The board fits in the top portion of a double wide stainless steel sink. So, chop and drop right into the garbage disposal. Size is slightly restricted when using in a sink. Al pieces need to be proportioned to the others. Wood species used here are maple in the center, red oak on the boarders and mahogany in the divider strips size pictured 11" x 16" x 1.5"

Custom Cutting boards are my love.
The process of designing them is quite enjoyable.
Finding the right woods that look good together and matching the grain patterns is what makes a great family keepsake.
There are 2 types of board designs. linear grain and end grain. The end grain is like standing a board on end and slicing of an inch or 2. The end grain construction will show no knife marks at all.
The assembly process can be time consuming depending on the design. However, because I am not a shop, but an individual craftsman, time is not my concern.
After the assembly is the sanding process which sets you up for a great finish. Depending on the hardness of the wood, there could be 4 different sanding grits used.
The finish come next. This is when the wood patterns really pop! I use food safe tung oil which seals the pores form water and germs. Merely clean with warm soapy water and wipe dry.
So, tell me what design you want and let's get started

For Cherry Wood Jewelry BoxI hate to be too critical of a piece that someone put time and effort into, but for the price the finished product was not what I expected. The removable try is made out of particle board which has been glued together. The wooden handle on the tray is a very thin wooden dowel which is not at all sturdy. In fact, I am reluctant to take the tray out for fear it may break. The felt lining inside the trays are not cut evenly and on the bottom of the box is slightly folded up on one of the sides. The lid is slightly uneven and appears to have been dented along with part of the main box. The box was shipped in a thin cardboard box with no internal packing to prevent damage in transit. On the plus side, the box is very sturdy and the engraving and stain look nice. Again, hate to be too critical of someone's work, but this project was not inexpensive. I'll use the box for something, but not as a jewelry box for my daughter. I ended up buying a very nice one from a store for considerably less money. No issues with the seller otherwise - timely communications , responses etc.

For Solid Walnut Edge Grain Personalized Cutting BoardSo easy working getting the project details hammered out... The gentleman who made it stayed in tough, easy and pleasant to wrth with. It looks great but I do wish the handles were actual handles. They are about 1/2 inch divit on either side of the board. Should be larger for hands.
