Beraht Stream Tables

$700

The once-in-a-lifetime find of a live edge slab from a grand Cucumber Magnolia tree started the journey that inspired the entire Stream Table Collection: Nature, Light, Color, and Sawdust melded into one-of-a-kind, truly touchable, functional works of art. A table customer wanted a 4'x8' slab table with great grain, but straight edges. The slab I found for them had live edges with phenomenal character. Didn't know what I would do with them after cutting away for the main slab, but kept them in the shop pondering ideas.

The "Stream" approach was birthed one day when I turned those truly magnificent edges inward to face each other (Picture #1). These gorgeous edges were begging to be showcased somewhere, somehow. With all the colors, ripples, twists and turns that resemble eroded earth along a stream, it was a short leap to lighted reflective glass and the birth of the Beraht Stream Table concept. The Pacific blue fire glass winds through the rugged, eroded landscape in an artistic manner as if carved by Mother Nature herself.

The glass is tumbled fireplace glass, loose in the "stream bed" with LED lights underneath. I often refer to them as adult sandboxes because it's just simply fun to rearrange the glass pieces as you admire the art. The glass is not a serious cut hazard due to the tumbling … but do keep the very young kiddos hands away lest they try to "taste" it!

Every table is unique, as nature intended. This is why your Beraht Stream Table is guaranteed to be one-of-a-kind. See more examples with descriptions at http://beraht.com/gallery.html

Choosing a design is a collaborative process beginning with size and fundamental color choices. I then try to find live edge wood that fits. The base can be wood or metal … again, a collaborative process where the customer helps bring the creation into being.

Welcome! I am the owner, operator, designer, sawdust maker and everything else including janitor of this little specialty woodworking business. After a career in the business world, I am now following a passion to create works in and of wood. My goal is to deliver to you, my customer, projects that are done right, meeting (hopefully exceeding) your quality expectations. I began my business in 2008 under the name: North Texas Woodworks. I designed and built tables for kitchens and dining rooms, bookshelves, cabinets and several other furniture items. In late 2014 I had bilateral knee replacement surgery that could have gone better! I was sidelined for about 3 years, but got back to sawdust making in 2018.

Changed the product focus to somewhat smaller items including the lighted "Stream Tables" sized for sofa tables and entry halls. With the change came a different name: Beraht, LLC. Beraht is a German word that can mean bright as well as Bert. Seemed like a perfect fit for lighted tables made by a guy named Bert! Beginning in 2024 I have added parametric wall art to my offerings, both standard designs as well as custom and personalized options. Be sure to check out my custom parametric flags!

I own two large format Computer Numerical Control (CNC) router systems and cut and carve special shapes and designs for individuals and for businesses. I can carve images and text in wood to create signs for your business, decor for your home, and gifts for your friends and family. With this automation, orders can be for an individual or for many repetitive items. Examples of past work include things as different as a carved applique for an antique sewing machine, signs, plaques, countless styles and shapes of art boards for paint and epoxy artists, and even ornate carved panels for residential and business doors.

Let me know how I can use my sawdust making skill to be of service to you.
