Wood Turned Juniper Burl Bowl 1

Wood Turned Juniper Burl Bowl

This is an example of a wood turned Juniper Burl bowl. Wood was harvested in Arizona many years ago by a master wood turner and was handed down to me. There are only two more available from my bowl blank selection. Juniper is full of cracks, and these are filled with resin. Customization is available regarding the resin color. This example is actually clear but looks black in these photos. Diameter is 10.5 inches and is finished in a linseed and beeswax solution and is 100% food safe. I would not recommend these to be used as a salad bowl, but it would make a great fruit bowl or decoration. Turn-around on this project would be six weeks from time of order to account for resin to properly harden, turning and finishing.

I am a custom leather and wood crafter producing artisan, one of a kind, products.

As a leathercrafter, I have made several custom instrument straps, holsters/sheaths, Bible/book covers, rifle and pistol cases as well as other utilitarian projects for multiple uses. Let me design and make you truly something special and one of a kind.

As a woodcrafter, I produce custom wood turnings, bowls and platters, up to 13.5" in diameter. These turnings are from green, locally sourced, materials that capture the beauty of what nature provides us. One of my favorite projects is to take logs from a favorite tree from someone's yard that perhaps fell during a storm, or they had to sacrifice due to age or encroachment on property and turn them into a treasure for that person to remember their tree forever.

I am a one-person shop, depending on work-load, projects may take a little longer than you might expect; however, I 100% finish my work before any deadline.

Rick is an artisan in Leather Work. The "Belt Tuck Sheath" he made for me was beautiful. I at first thought that it would be too small, but he sent excellent instructions on how to "wet fit" the sheath to my Gerber Coffin Handle Bowie. This sheath was truly worthy of my :Grail Knife". I will definitely seek out Rick Capp when I want another sheath made.

Rick made a gorgeous sheath for my collector grade knife, which enhances my enjoyment of it as well as its value. Rick offered several suggestions, all of which I accepted. He let me know his work in progress and the ccmpletion date. When I opened the postal packet and saw the sheath, I knew ir was going to be perfect—not just the design; the quality of the leather is superb. The price was extremely reasonable. I will be back.

I am very pleased with what Rick made for me. Perfect, just what I wanted. It came weeks ahead of when expected. I’m thinking on other projects he can do for me.
