Abstract Fused Glass Sculpture Featuring Handmade Glass - Ebb and Flow
The fused glass sculpture Ebb and Flow is composed of three distinct waves. The colors and shapes of my handmade glass were inspired by the intense beauty of the lava flows on the Big Island of Hawaii. The colors range from fiery reds to rich violets and soothing blues. I kiln-carved various patterns into the back of each piece of glass for an added textural element. The glass waves are anchored in a base of black granite. As a stand-alone sculpture, it can be placed in any location where it can take advantage of the natural light in the room. As you move around the piece, each vantage point offers a new take on the shapes and colors.

Feb 23, 2024What a wonderful artist Michelle is! After meeting with us initially to better understand what we had in mind for the transom window, she prepared several artist drawings with suggested themes. Every one was a possibility that we could have been pleased with. With her talent it made it difficult to decide. We settled on one, then changed to another, and finally after incorporating elements from more than one, and with further changes and additions we finally settled on what has become a work of art in the 6' wide arched transom window above our 8' front doors. It incorporates elements of the family's heritage with a truly wonderful rondel at it's center.
