Jim Eddy is a remarkable furniture maker and a remarkable man. He is deeply knowledgeable about the history, form, details and the wood species, the many variables/behavioral characteristics of wood, milling, finishes etc. Jim was instrumental for making design decisions. He dedicated an enormous amount of his time to talk with me about the many details. He worked extremely efficiently, and completed my tables on time, under a very pressured deadline. He managed to do this despite delays that I myself caused when I asked him to pause the process, a couple of times, while we evaluated options for details and finishes. Jim produced samples, mailed them, and kept me up-to-date about all the issues. Always very accessible and thoughtful. The result is a remarkable table, a transformation of the Shaker drop leaf type. The finish and details are stunning. Everyone I have shown it to has found it to be beautiful. I intend to work with Jim again on future furniture projects. He is a rare, extraordinary, genuine artist.

    For credenza with bookcase above
    5.0

I have never given 5 stars to all aspects of any review, ever. We could not be more pleased with the craftsmanship, professionalism, value, and the overall way in which the project went from design to production and through to installation. Jim was great to work with. The two credenza/bookcase units he produced are simply excellent pieces we'll end up passing on to the children.

    For Nakashima-Inspired Conoid Chair
    4.3

This project took longer than expected, he did explain what happened to cause this. The chairs packed so well it took me two hours to unpack them, in other words pack perfectly. Once the were in the house at the table thet are so much better than even I expected. I have been to many ACC shows as a craftsman and a buyer and his work is as good as any I have seen. He improved on George Nakashima's design by making it much more comfortable and better proportioned. The finish is exactly the way I discussed. I have had other woodworkers over and they all rave about the design, angles and sheer beauty of his work. If you are patient about time lines; I don't think you can find a better craftsman to build your desired piece.

    For Office Desk / Table
    2.7

I had to do considerable extra work on the final product in order for the drawers to work properly. I provided the concept drawing and Jim designed the rest. The final product looks fantastic from a small distance. It is in the details of the construction that is disappointing. It has been a little over a year since Jim installed it and I have just recently finished fixing it. After some communication to have Jim complete the project and having him say he would take care of it. I ended up just doing it myself. He never got back with me on this project.
