Mata Hari's Daughter is the adorn-able artwork of Carly Reynolds. One of a kind headpieces built around the vintage and antique collectibles that inspire them.

The Method to my Madness…
Without a doubt, I am inspired by the Art Deco and Art Nouveau eras, and draw heavily from the design of these periods. Color is of the utmost importance to me, so I hunt down elements that coordinate in just the way I want. If I can't find something in the right color, I custom dye it… from fabric, to feathers, to thread!
Being a wee bit of a perfectionist, even the undersides of my pieces are backed in silks, velvets and vintage ribbons. Feathers are hand curled, petals hand cut, beading restored or made anew with decades old beads…..and I can't tell you how long I spend arranging feathers to achieve the perfect composition!

A Bit About Me…
I've always been a "Jill of all Trades" when it comes to making things, and my job history is a colorful palette of creative work that includes everything from muralist and decorative painter, to costumer, as well as fabrication artist, to more unexpected jobs like wedding and event planner and (everybody's favorite) monster mask painter.

After taking time off to have my daughter, I made the decision to start my own business and work from home. I wasn't sure exactly what that business would be, but I knew it would involve being a maker of beautiful things. I found myself being drawn towards collecting and repurposing beautiful old textiles and jewelry into one of a kind headwear. Mata Hari's Daughter was born.
