My name is Dave Sutton.
Retiring after fifteen years of being a professional flats guide here in South Florida due to the 2009 recession and the gulf oil spill.
I then worked at home for Hotel Vanities International and have a small, but very well equipped wood shop in the back yard.
I have now moved to the mountains of Murphy, North Carolina and am in the process of building my retirement home and new workshop.
For almost 40 years I have given my very best effort to create heirloom quality pieces for every one of my customers that will last a lifetime.
Almost 4 decades of wood crafting has taught me one thing. If I want it done just right…
I have to do it myself.
If I don't like it, you won't see it. It's that simple.
I am the designer, craftsman and woodworker,
I pick the log and the slabs, I do the shaping and all the sanding. All of the assembly and fitting ??? Yup…all me.
I also do the hand rubbed finishes myself as well.
I learned my trade growing up in Rhode Island building handmade strip-wood canoes, hand made cabinets, slab furniture and working in various shipyards on the coast of Maine till I moved to Florida in 1990.
Finding all of the exotic woods available to me here was amazing. I was like a little kid in a candy store.
I now have built and moved into my retirement cabin in Murphy, NC and have just finished my new workshop. I love the mountains and the people here …

Dave Sutton was able to get a BMW gear shift for the handle -BINGO! Craftsmanship is superb. The turnaround time was much faster than I figured it would be. Smaller items only are shipped Mainland USA and Canada only and by USPS & UPS Message me with a zip code for a competitive shipping quote! Unless otherwise stated, we ship large items to The USA ONLY. UPS charges an additional $54 flat residential fee for a home delivery.
Maker Policy
Refunds; 100% Refunds of the deposit will only be made if notification is given to me "before" the commissioned piece has been cut from the slabs. A 15% fee will be charged for time and travel if slab purchases have already been made and if fabrication has been started rendering the slabs almost useless for other projects there will be NO REFUND. Commission Piece Returns or Cancellations Only; The vision of this art has been verbalized and portrayed by the customer to me the artist and will be created by me, the artist. I may have a different view/vision/interpretation/mind’s eye or understanding of this commissioned piece of art than the one the customer may see in his/her mind. I will make every attempt to send pictures of the progress of the piece to the customer to avoid these problems and to add to the history of the piece being created. Because of this, the customer will not hold liable this artist for minor differences that may be present upon final inspection of this commissioned piece. If the customer is not satisfied with the art at the time of revealing to the customer they will not expect the deposit to be returned. The artist will make another piece with the corrections made. Completed Item Returns or Cancellation; If purchasing an item previously made and sold as a completed item there will be NO REFUNDS... There will be many pictures showing color, grains, figuring and knotting so there will not be any surprises upon receiving the item. All dimensions will be available as well. Colors may vary slightly from pictures seen on this site and the actual piece of wood you receive due to poor photography. We can Facetime for a better color option if necessary.
