Hello, I’m Douglas Repetto, an artist and designer based in Memphis, Tennessee. For many years I taught electronic art, music, and sculpture at Columbia University in New York City, where I was the founding director of the Sound Arts MFA program. I work with diverse materials and processes to make one of a kind functional (usually!) objects (lamps, furniture), clothing, and accessories, as well as commissioned work like custom electronic devices, chandeliers, bespoke wooden cases, and engravings.
I combine traditional techniques for working with wood, metals, textiles, and concrete with modern wonders like computer controlled tools, home automation, and tiny embedded computers. I often work with found or recycled materials, and the environmental and social impact of what I make and how I make it is always on my mind.
I’m happy to talk with you about design and fabrication jobs of any size, from a simple plaque to an automatonic chandelier!

Anne Coates
For Personalized Metal Art Coat Rack
The project was a great experience. The artist was professional and tuned-in immediately to my idea. The piece is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, despite being carefully packaged, it arrived with a piece broken off.
Steven Parmelee
For Steven's End Table
I am extremely pleased with the end table that Douglas created for me. He took my basic idea and crafted a beautiful piece of furniture. Douglas was very responsive, timely, professional, and fair. He sent me pictures along the way and I couldn't be happier with the results. I would definitely work with him again!
Susan Evans
For Susan's Sculpture
