Woodworking wasn't always a passion of mine. It took me roughly twelve years to figure it out. After enduring nine years in the Marine Corps I was Honorably Discharged and struggling to figure out my next move. While I sorted things out I earned a BS in Technical Management and built cabinetry and furniture on the side. After a couple years of teaching myself the trade I thought I should pursue a legitimate education in the trade. So I enrolled in the Cabinet and Furniture Design Program at Palomar College and studied for two years. After my schooling I earned my Contractors license and started building!

For Two small speaker standsI believe that anyone looking at the examples on this website of the work done by Ross Habecker of Fidelis Woodworks, can readily see that he is an artisan of the highest level. What the photos do not reveal, is that he is also a very down-to-earth person, and a genuinely sincere human being who is deeply concerned about the quality of care and satisfaction that he is able to provide his clients. On a scale of one to ten -- from the standpoint of difficulty-of-construction, and artistic merit -- the project which I had Mr Habecker do for me was probably a three. What I required were two simple rectangular "boxes" -- to be covered in either wood veneer or Formica -- to be used as six-inch-high stands for a pair of large "tower" speakers. Before I agreed to his proposal, he explained to me that -- because of his current level of commitments -- it would take a while for him to be able to begin my project. This was not a problem for me... but I truly appreciated his giving me a very specific time-frame for when the project would be finished. Throughout that interim, he kept me fully informed as to the level of progress he was making, including sending mechanical drawings of the proposed pieces, and subsequent photos of the semi-finished and finished stands. Also... when initially discussing shipping methods, because he and I live only an hour's drive from each other, he requested that rather than subject the stands to the possibility of damage during shipment, he would bring them to my home, personally. Sadly, in today's "ASAP" marketplace, I find this sort of commitment to absolutely impeccable customer care and service, to be vanishingly rare. And as such, I could not possibly more highly recommend Mr Habecker's services. The quality of his work -- the stands are flawlessly perfect -- and his attention to his customer's needs, are unsurpassed.

For Coffee tableI was away when the coffee table was delivered, and when I returned home, I could not have been more thrilled with the work Ross did. This table is everything I wanted it to be, and pictured in my mind. Thank you Ross for the amazing job!

For Wooden Wine Rack - 8 bottles and 4 glassesMy project was a 8 bottle, counter-top wine rack. I chose Ross for my project since he was semi-local and because of his other project photos/reviews, and I am extremely happy with my decision! My timeline was fairly aggressive, and on top of that, I was very particular in what I was looking for. Ross and I went back and forth with minor design changes, feature changes (some of them very nitpicky), and he was accommodating every step of the way providing 3D renderings of the proposed changes and progress photos during the build. In the end, the product looks fantastic, and the craftsmanship is top-notch Ross even added some nice leveling feet to the bottom of the rack (that can be hidden/removed if needed), an excellent feature that I had not thought about. If you have a wood project need, I would highly recommend Ross!

For Statement Center Channel speakerI had ordered a speaker cabinet from Ross. I must say I could not be more satisfied with the entire transaction. From asking the right questions during the design phase to giving a reasonable quote, to keeping me updated with pictures of manufacturing and shipping, Ross was amazing. The cabinet was made flawlessly and I was even given the option of doing a roundover on the edges which makes the cabinet look much better! Thank you. I would definitely do business with him again and cannot recommend him enough. P.S: I graded the experience an A on all the parameters - I am hoping that the grading system is similar to schools where an A is top notch and F is fail. Straight A for this one.

For Table TopRoss Habecker did an outstanding job on this project. We needed a larger tabletop for our alter at the Zen Center. Ross matched the wood exactly and suggested that we add breadboard ends for stability. It looks great, it's high quality work and he delivered it fast!
