I would like to preface my review of JK Furniture--and by extension, Custommade.com-- by stating that I was apprehensive about the processes that included: selecting an artisan, time and effort to the collaborative process, miscommunication that could occur absent face-to-face interconnectivity, and waiting for the end result. After all, purchasing ready-made items from a "big box" store or boutique is easier and faster, right? Within a couple of hours of posting my project, Custommade.com provided more than five potential candidates requesting to fill my need. Each provided me their resume' and samples of their work. The decision to select one was difficult only because their expertise and samples of past works looked so impressive. I selected JK Furniture for several reasons: (1) his resume' was impressive, (2) he was prompt and succinct to my additional quires, (3) he provided additional pictures and a potential sketch of my project (before I gave him the job), and (4) gave me advice and assured me my needs and wants would be met. JK Furniture (Joel) kept me posted throughout the project. He eased my trepidations of the process and the eventual outcome. I was nervous about the wood choice and Joel reassured me by stating, "my supplier typically lets me select the wood". Later that day, he emailed me several pictures of wood he would like to use and asked me to select the ones I wanted used. This depicts Joel's attention to customer service. He understood how important the wood choice and more specifically the color was to me. Joel emailed me updates with pictures of his progress. With each picture and update my apprehension lessoned and was replaced with excitement. I couldn't wait for the piece to be completed. Joel completed the work as promised and when promised. He was easy to communicate with and always answered questions timely. If you are wondering if this process and CustomMade is if for you--do it. If you are thinking of using Joel and JK Furniture for your next project--Do it! I am glad I did. Thank you again CustomMade and Joel.

We just received our finished project (a custom bench made out of an antique head and foot board), and we are so happy with the job that Joel did! Throughout the process he was wonderful to work with; easy to communicate with, listened to our requests, and offered great suggestions. This was a pretty unique project, and the finished product is beautiful and exactly what we hoped for!
