My name is Kyle Nied and I have an older brother named Nick. Our business, “Barn XO”, was born out of a desperate situation. A couple years ago, Nick got very sick and found out that he would eventually need a kidney transplant. My mom and the rest of our family became very proactive in finding my brother a kidney.
We knew that the only way my brother was going to get a kidney and have a chance at survival was to find a donor. We discovered that I could help my brother through the “UW Transplant Program” at the Health University of Wisconsin.
As Nick’s condition progressed, I looked for a way to get his mind off of things. We happened to meet some farmers who talked about old barns that they needed to have torn down. I saw an opportunity to reclaim this wood and give it new life and purpose. Together, we developed our craft by creating unique pieces of furniture using this reclaimed wood.
We started with a load of wood from the farmers and used it to build a table and bench for our mom. We then took pictures and created listings on “Craig’s List” and orders started flying in.
On January 8, 2015 my brother received a kidney from a donor in San Francisco and I donated one of my kidneys to a person in West Virginia. I do not know how my parents made it through that day, having both of their sons in surgery. Our transplant chain was the largest chain in the world with 35 pairs, helping 70 people with kidney donations. In April, our story was aired on Channel 5 ABC World News.
We are both doing great and are back in the swing of giving new life to each piece of furniture we build. We both feel so blessed that we are donating $5.00 of our proceeds to the “Kidney Foundation” for each piece we build. Shipping Policy
Shipment and Delivery. Unless expressly agreed to by the parties in writing, Barn XO shall select the method of shipment of, and the carrier for, the Goods. Barn XO may, in its sole discretion, without liability or penalty, make partial shipments of Goods to you. Most orders ship via UPS across the United States in 1-4 business days with no signature required. Please Note that we do not send our packages "signature required". If you would like this option, please let us know in advance when your order is placed. Sometimes, even though we ship signature not required, the UPS driver has the right to leave a call tag instead of the package if they do not feel comfortable leaving the package. Please be aware that orders only ship on business days; we do not offer weekend or holiday delivery. Larger items such as tables and desks often ship via a freight carrier in 3-7 days. You will also receive tracking and phone call from the freight carrier to schedule delivery. The freight carrier drops the crate off curbside and requires a signature. If you have ordered something that is coming via freight carrier please make sure to find a friend or two to help you carry your furniture up to your apartment or home. White glove delivery is available if you must have it for a price increase but you must contact us to set this up and pay the additional charge which is typically several hundred dollars more for this service. Please contact us at info [!at] barnxo.com for more information on the shipment option for your Order.Delivery dates are estimates and are subject to change. Lead times. Small items such as console tables, benches, bar stools and small desks typically ship within 1-2 weeks or sooner. Coffee tables, small tables and desks ship in approx 3-4 weeks. Dining tables larger than 60" ship in approx. 5 weeks. The typical lead time for custom orders is 4-8 weeks. Late Delivery. Any time quoted by Barn XO for delivery is an estimate only. Barn XO is not liable for or in respect of any loss or damage arising from any delay in filling any order, failure to deliver or delay in delivery. No delay in the shipment or delivery of any Goods relieves you of your obligations under these Terms, including without limitation payment for the Goods. Inspection. Receiving Your Freight Shipment. (Does not apply if your order is able to be shipped UPS) Please make sure you have help to bring your crate inside. Your Freight shipment will be secured in a crate with protective packaging, and high-grade straps to help prevent damage during transit. The shipment will arrive on a semi-truck.The semi-truck will have a lift-gate to bring the crate to ground level. Be sure to inspect the outside of the crate for damage with extra scrutiny. Do not sign for the shipment if the crate looks damaged. When you sign the driver’s delivery receipt, you are acknowledging receipt of all products in good order. Buyer shall inspect the Goods upon delivery and notify Barn XO within 3 days of receipt ("Inspection Period") if any Goods are damaged or incomplete. Buyer will be deemed to have accepted the Goods unless Buyer notifies Barn XO in writing of any damaged or incomplete Goods during the Inspection Period and furnishes such written evidence or other documentation as required by Barn XO. If Buyer timely notifies us of any damaged or incomplete Goods, we will work to fix or replace such Goods at no cost to you. White Glove Delivery: White glove delivery and shipping typically ranges from $300-500 total. For "White Glove" delivery, the carrier will only bring it inside your apartment, un-package it for you and remove the shipping materials and crate. This needs to be set up in advance. Shipping outside the continental 48 States: Currently we ship to Canada but it requires additional charges to ship. Please convo before you order or expect that we will be contacting you to pay the additional charges after purchase if you are requesting Canada delivery. The same goes for Alaska and Hawaii.

Refund/Return Policy. Barn XO may accept returns, or exchanges on UPS shipments for standard sizes of benches, console tables, bar stools, small desks and wine racks within ten (10) days of delivery. Dining Tables and desks may not be returned. All custom furniture is final sale and not eligible for return. Goods that are shipped in a crate via freight carrier are final sale and not eligible for return. For all returned Goods, Buyer must request a Return Merchandise Authorization prior to returning the goods, will be required to pay for return shipping, and the order may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. The full amount of the returned Goods less shipping and handling cost, will be returned to the Buyer once Barn XO has the Goods back in its possession. Changes to Order. Buyers may, within three (3) business days, make a written request to change the Order. Barn XO reserves the right to agree to or decline any requested changes due to availability of materials or any other reason. If Barn XO agrees to make changes, the pricing of the furniture ordered will be adjusted according to our pricing in place at the time the changes are requested. Cancellation of Order. A Buyer has three (3) business days to cancel the Order and receive a full refund without penalty. After this period, Barn XO may, in its sole discretion, allow Buyer to cancel the Order subject to a ten percent (10%) cancellation fee or refuse to cancel the order.
