Great service

This Maker has consistently demonstrated excellence in craftsmanship and customer service.

We are a social enterprise based in Chicago and Guatemala that focuses on Fair Trade textile production. We are a verified Fair Trade company by both the Fair trade Federation as well as the World Fair Trade Federation.

Y'abal partners with cooperatives of indigenous women weavers in rural communities in Guatemala to make 100% artisanal and handwoven fabrics and scarves. We offer custom fabrics and soft woven rayon scarves, as well as accessories such as handbags, wallets, ties, home decor, all crafted using our artisanally woven fabrics. We specialize in a completely artisan-made product that is high in quality both for our woven fabrics as well as for sewing and construction.

We are a social enterprise with the mission to provide consistent jobs and social programs to disadvantaged women in Guatemala. All profits are re-invested into social programs for our women weavers.

Maker Policy

We promise to uphold our agreements with our customers. We approach disputes on a case by case basis with each customer. If a customer is unsatisfied, we are happy to give a refund or discount if the error is ours. We seek to avoid any misunderstandings by having clear and concise communication in all stages of the process. That being said, we also remind our customers that our textiles are made using a very artisanal and handmade process which creates a product that is distinct from a machine-produced fabric. Minor details such as a couple of small knots in the fabric or minor variations in the texture are a normal part of the handmade process and are not considered errors. We also do our best to match colors, but the thread options we have access to are limited and we are not able to always produce 100% accuracy to set Pantone codes.
